Profile
Yangyi Wu (伍杨屹), PhD, is an Associate Professor in the School of Urban Design at Wuhan University. His research focuses on the interaction between urban spatial structure and economic activities, with attention to urban equity, innovation, and resilience.

Research interests
Urban Transformation: How economic change, firm location and urban amenities jointly shape local development — and why similar transformations follow different paths in different cities.
Spatial Restructuring: How employment, housing and daily activities redistribute within cities. Morphological concentration, functional connection and residents’ activity spaces are three distinct layers of structure.
Spatial Inequality: How access to urban resources differs across places and social groups. We ask both where resources are located and who can use them, how they are used, and whose needs are met.

Teaching and supervision
I supervise research on urban spatial equity, industrial location, and spatial data analysis. 2027 entry: Master’s students in Design and in Urban and Rural Planning. PhD recruitment is expected from 2028. The 2026 cohort covers professional and academic Master’s tracks in Planning.
